Virtual Library

                      A Virtual Library provides remote (on-line or CD-ROM-based) access to a variety of national and international content (e.g. curricula, learning materials, books, journals, magazines, newspapers) , services traditionally offered by libraries and other information sources. The Electronic Library System provides the latest functions as well as allowing books to be displayed on screen as if they were printed books. The system makes advances in retrieving books and papers.

Function:- A Virtual Library becomes the gateway that provides integrated access to all sorts of resources and library services both traditional and virtual, and to one’s own physical and digital collections, and to resources which can be located on any Internet site, whether public or private.

Importance of Virtual Library: A Virtual Library  provides access to databases, electronic  journals, alerting services, online reference tools and quality-selected web resources that improves the quality of teaching and research. a virtual library is a strategy for effective learning and it provides access to the electronic super highway.

 

Benefits:- Virtual libraries break down the physical barriers between users and information sources. Through the use of audio and video, virtual libraries can also make resources available to users that are visually and hearing impaired, and they make these resources available in their homes.
